Algumas curiosidades da História de Almoster:
O lugar de Almoster foi o escolhido por D. Sancha Pires, para a fundação de um mosteiro e sua filha inicia, a construção de um mosteiro feminino, submetido à Ordem de Cister, o Mosteiro de Santa Maria de Almoster, do qual hoje nos resta apenas a Igreja, recentemente recuperada pelo IPPAR, os Claustros e a Casa do Capítulo e as ruínas do Dormitório e Refeitório (séc. XVI). São de referir, no interior da Igreja, vários altares de talha dourada e panos de azulejos seiscentistas. Os dotes culinários destas monjas podem ser ainda hoje apreciados, através dos Arrepiados e Celestes, cujas receitas tradicionais foram mantidas vivas pelas habitantes de Almoster.
Foi também em Almoster, que se travou em 1834, a Batalha de Almoster entre as tropas absolutistas, D. Miguel, e as tropas liberais, D. Pedro, tendo estes alcançado a vitória, iniciando-se aí um novo período da nossa História, a Monarquia Liberal.

Some curiosities of the History of Almoster:
The place of Almoster was chosen by D. Sancha Pires, for the foundation of a monastery and his daughter started, the construction of a female monastery, submitted to the Cister Order, the Monastery of Santa Maria de Almoster, of which today we have only the Church, recently recovered by IPPAR, the Cloisters and the Chapter House and the ruins of the Dormitory and Refectory.
